There is so much advice for having a baby and how to take care of a baby, but what about you, the mother? You’re the one that has carried the baby inside you, looked after yourself above and beyond, prepared for the arrival and gone through delivery. Now it is paramount that you think about yourself as well as the baby.
Becoming a mother can be made out to be all frilly around the edges but the reality is there are no frilly bits! The saving grace is just the kind words that it will be worth it when you’re holding your baby in your arms, and it is.
I also hear expecting mothers say how having a baby is not going to change them, but I'm sorry to say the reality is nothing of the sort. Nothing will be the same again and this is by no means a bad thing, it's just the reality. I say this not to scare you but to try to prepare you as much as possible.
There is a lot to do and learn, like establishing breastfeeding and getting into a routine, but most importantly looking after yourself and getting to know your gorgeous little bundle of joy!
